Curly, of Course!

Sorry, but i don’t pre-poo. I don’t co-wash. I don’t deep-condish for hours, and I don’t baggy. Nor do I spend $30 bucks on Miss Jessie’s-curly-grits, oatmeal, OR puddin’.  And I don’t plan to.  I don’t mix all natural ingredients into my hair care products – I’m old school, man.

Shampoo, conditioner, gel – and maybe a little DAX when my hair get’s long enough to twist(out). That’s all I’ma do. Trust me. I believe in doing what works for my hair - not in doing the most. I don’t believe kinky/curly hair is that fragile – I think we just need to be gentle. And I honestly can’t imagine spending hours doing anything to my hair other than getting some braids.

Of course, my hair IS only 3 inches long – I’ll check back with an update in a few months…

A recurring question among us newly naturals is ‘how do i make my twa more manageable?”,  and i’ve finally answered that question as it pertains to my twa:  conditioning shampoo, Herbal Essences “Hello Hydration” rinse-out condish,  Ecostyler Gel w\Olive Oil, Shea Moisture restorative condish leave-in, and Argan Oil .

My regimen? I shampoo with whatever conditioning shampoo I have handy – right now it’s Elasta QP. Following the shampoo – I  run a handful of Herbal Essence “Hello Hydration” through my hair – then rinse after about 5 minutes. I then apply about a dime-size portion of the Shea  Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative condish to my hair, and let my hair dry for about 5 more minutes.

Next step: I scoop out a handful of the Ecostyler gel, and apply it all over my head. Then I take my trusty Afro comb, and comb through my hair  to distribute the gel. Once that’s done I style with my fingers, and apply a little Argan Oil to seal my ends. It takes my hair a couple of hours to air-dry after shampooing  (I’m sure that’s because the main ingredient in the Ecostyler gel is H2O, and I apply it liberally), and once it dries it’s slightly crunchy at first, but I run my hands over my head(gently), and it get’s super-soft.

This wash’n'go will last me 3 days. On the 3rd day – I apply a dollop of Luster’s S-Curl Jel Activator, and it softens my curls right up!

I came across Flawless Mistake’s blog by accident. I’m sure I clicked on a comment link somewhere, the link took me directly to this video, and now I have a SERIOUS case of  the hair envies, lol! The Pony Puff is my dream hair style, and if I can’t wait three years until I get this length – I will go and BUY me a pony puff, d*mnit!
